I'm Mark, the painter behind Elite Master Painting.
For me, a paint job is never just colour on a wall. It's about the people who live and work with the result. I treat every space as if it were my own home: furniture protected, floors covered, nothing damaged, and each area left clean at the end of the day, with daily life disrupted as little as possible.
After fifteen years painting across Melbourne, from family homes to new builds and commercial projects, I've learned it's the preparation nobody sees that decides whether a finish starts failing within the first year or holds up beautifully for years. I care how the work turns out, how it feels to live through it, and the reputation I leave behind on every project. On larger jobs I bring in a small, trusted team who work to the same standard.
I didn't set out to be a painter. I arrived in Melbourne without a word of English, and I started at the very bottom, learning the trade on site from people who had been doing it their whole working lives. All these years later, something that came to me almost by chance has become the work I'm proudest of.
At first it was simply what I could do. But slowly it changed. I saw how a home lifts once it's painted, and how the people living in it light up when they see it finished. Their happiness became mine, and that was the moment it stopped being just a job.
Early on, working alongside other painters, I was often the one trusted to check the quality of everyone's work before it was signed off. I still remember a surprise inspection. Two of us were painting side by side, one window each. My window was sanded back, cleaned and prepared. The other painter had gone straight over the old coat. When the inspector walked in, the difference spoke for itself.
That was when the standard I hold today became second nature: prepare every surface properly, fill every crack, sand it back, clear the dust, and only then pick up the brush.
Everything I do still runs on that, and on referrals. Most of my clients come to me because someone they trust sent them my way, and I treat every job as if the next client is watching. More often than not, they are.

Most of our work is houses, but a wall is a wall. Over fifteen years that has meant apartments and period homes as often as it has meant shops, service stations and offices, and the same crew has painted schools, childcare centres and community buildings. A three bedroom interior generally runs $4,500 to $9,000, a single storey exterior $5,500 to $12,000, and a tile roof $3,500 to $7,500. Where a job sits inside its range comes down to the state of the surfaces and how much preparation they need, not to your postcode. Paint, protection and the clean up are all inside the figure, and once you have it, it does not move.

Wherever you are in Melbourne, we will come to you. The suburb is not an issue. We work right across the city, from the inner suburbs out to the growth corridors, and we travel beyond it as well, through the Mornington Peninsula, out to Geelong and into regional Victoria. Homes, new builds and commercial sites alike.
Through the inner east and bayside, Malvern, Camberwell, Kew and Cheltenham, most of what we touch is period housing: plaster detail, high ceilings and old timber windows that have been painted over more than once. Across the west, from Yarraville and Williamstown out to Werribee and Point Cook, it is weatherboard and render taking the full weather off the bay, and further down the coast at Frankston and around the Mornington Peninsula the salt air strips an exterior faster than anywhere else in the state. In the growth corridors at Tarneit, Truganina, Wollert, Clyde North, Berwick and Pakenham the houses are six or seven years old and hitting their first repaint, and the builders still working there need a painter who holds a program. Out through the shaded north east, Eltham, Ringwood and Lilydale, the problem is a different one, damp and moss, which is usually a roof job before it is a wall job. For commercial work we go further again, into the industrial estates at Laverton North, Derrimut, Campbellfield and Dandenong South, and as far as Ballarat.

Frequently asked
How long will my project take?
Most interior rooms take one to two days including preparation. Smaller projects are usually finished within five days, larger ones up to around ten, depending on the size of the home and the size of the team. A full exterior repaint typically runs five to eight days depending on size and weather.
Will the final price be higher than the quote?
No. The price we give you after inspecting the job is the final price. We take a day or two to work it out properly beforehand, precisely so nothing needs recalculating later. In the rare case something genuinely unforeseeable turns up, we raise it with you straight away, never at the end.
Do I need to move out during the work?
Usually not. We work room by room and air out the space well, so most clients stay home comfortably. Some jobs, like oil-based paint on doors and windows, carry a stronger smell, and it's always your call whether to step out for a day or two, especially with young children, elderly family or pets. Either way, we tell you honestly what to expect.
How do you protect my furniture and floors?
Before we open a single tin, everything is covered: drop sheets over floors and carpet, and furniture, TVs and fixtures protected. Nothing is left uncovered. We also tidy the work area and clean our tools at the end of every day, not just at the end of the job.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
Usually two coats for a repaint. For a new home with fresh plaster we apply three: a primer first, then two finish coats. We always match the number of coats to the condition of each surface.
How soon can I use the room after painting?
For walls and ceilings, the room is usually ready to use again within three to four hours, as that paint dries quickly. Doors or windows finished in oil-based paint need longer, so it's best to wait until the next day for them to fully cure.
Can you help me choose colours?
Yes. If you're unsure which shade to go with, we're happy to advise, and clients have often trusted us to choose the colour for them based on the space and the finish they're after.
What paint brands do you use?
We work mainly with Dulux and other trusted Australian brands, chosen for washability, colour retention and durability. We're happy to talk through options during your quote.
Do you provide a warranty?
Yes, seven years on our workmanship. If a problem comes from how the paint was applied, that's our responsibility and we'll put it right. Issues caused by the building itself, such as movement or a cracking substrate, sit outside painting, and any fault in the paint itself is covered by the manufacturer's own warranty.
What happens if it rains or gets very hot?
For exterior work, weather matters. If it rains we reschedule, since rain ruins fresh paint. In extreme heat we start early, around 6am, and stop by mid-morning, because paint that dries too fast doesn't give a good finish. We'd rather move a day than compromise the result.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry $20M public liability insurance, so in the unlikely event something is damaged in your home, such as carpet or flooring, you're fully covered. Documentation is provided before work begins.
What if I can't reach you during the project?
If we don't pick up straight away, it usually means we're on site or hands-deep in a job, but we always call back as soon as we're free. Our work comes mostly through referrals, so staying responsive and reliable is everything to us.
