Lancarr House, a Victorian terrace in Carlton
A double storey Victorian terrace in Carlton, exterior only, finished in heritage cream with the cast iron lace, verandah posts and panelled front door picked out in deep oxide red. The parapet and the roofline detail were painted with it. Shown as the full facade, the rendered parapet carrying its LANCARR HOUSE nameplate, the verandah lacework and the entrance.
Weatherboard home in Glen Iris, exterior repainted throughout
A warm cream weatherboard home in Glen Iris taken to a cool grey with charcoal trim. The whole outside went through: weatherboards, fascia and eaves, the handrail, the windows, the entry door, the front steps and the pergola. Shown before and after from the front, the side and the two storey rear.

Outdoor timber refreshed and protected: decks and verandah floors oiled to a deep, even finish, and door and window frames coated to hold up against the weather.
Rooftop deck in Alphington, stripped back and recoated
A rooftop deck in Alphington that had gone about fifteen years without a coat. Washed down with a decking cleaner and a high pressure washer, left to dry overnight, then sanded right back with a floor sander the next day before the deck paint went on.
Verandah floor of a period home
A period weatherboard home in Yarraville, where the verandah is the part of the house that takes the most weather and gets the least attention. The decking had worn back along the traffic lines, so the boards were cleaned, prepared and taken to a deep charcoal, with the window and door frames done in the same visit. Cream weatherboard above, dark floor below, which is the combination that suits these houses best.
Cedar bifold frames in Brighton, stained and sealed
Part of a larger job in Brighton that ran inside and out. Shown here is the exterior hardwood: the cedar bifold frames were stained and finished with a clear coat, the same system used on the windows. Decking on that job took deck paint instead, because a floor takes traffic and a frame does not.
Garage doors & metalwork
Metal does not take the same paint as a wall. Doors and steel are machine sanded, given a metal undercoat and finished with two topcoats, which is what stops a garage door chalking and streaking a few summers in. Both of the doors below were done as part of a wider exterior job on the same house.
Garage door in Donvale, timber to charcoal
Part of an exterior job in Donvale that covered the render, the entry door and the garage door. The door itself was machine sanded back, given a metal undercoat, then two topcoats in charcoal. The middle frame is the primer stage, before the colour went on.
Garage door in Greendale, cream to black
One part of a full exterior in Greendale that also took in the tile roof, the fascia and the eaves. The panelled door was primed with a metal undercoat and finished with two topcoats in black. The roof from the same house is on the roofs page.
